A West End star surprised Dudley students

Alexzandra Sarmiento, associate choreographer for In The Heights and dance captain for Hamilton, gave the session to Halesowen College students through West Enducate via Zoom

The workshop was based on the West End hit, ‘In The Heights', and had them learning actual choreography from the show.

There was also a Q&A at the end, giving the students the opportunity to ask any questions they had about the performing industry.

Chloe Turner, head of division for performing arts and media at Halesowen College, said: “We wanted to provide our Musical Theatre students with an end of year opportunity because their own final major performance of ‘In The Heights’ was cancelled due to the pandemic.

“This was such a fantastic opportunity for our students and helped us to finish the course on a high.”

Sinead Long, founder of West Enducate and also a current cast member in ‘Hamilton’, West End, added: “I created West Enducate to demystify life working in the West End and provide opportunities to learn from industry professionals.

"It’s amazing to see the positive response, and to be able to connect those currently working in the industry with the next generation, keeping passion for the arts ignited through this difficult time.”
