The baby female giraffe was born at Dudley Zoo on September 22

The calf was born on Sunday, September 22, to 10-year-old mother Josie and 18-year-old father Kubwa.

The youngster, who is yet to be named, stands at around 1.8 metres tall.

Jay Haywood, Dudley Zoo's assistant curator, said: "Everyone at Dudley Zoological Gardens is delighted with her arrival.

“She has been snuggled up to mum in the giraffe house for the past week, but we are thrilled with her progress.

“She is very inquisitive and I am sure she will quickly become a firm favourite with our visitors."

Keepers are currently thinking of a name for the newborn, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
