Dudley Ladies' Night in aid of charity
Oh yes its Ladies Night...as dozens are expected to descend on a community centre in the Black Country for a charity evening.
The event will see money go towards the Williams Syndrome Foundation and Gornal Together.
Only a few tickets are left, as more than 140 ladies are set to be entertained with a fashion show, floral demonstration, DJ, buffet, Prosecco and select shopping stalls.
It will take place at Baggeridge Social Welfare Centre at The Straits in Lower Gornal tomorrow (FRI OCT 6) evening from 7pm to midnight.
Organiser Kellie Bates has been fundraising for Williams Syndrome after her six-year-old son, Matthew, was diagnosed with the rare condition.
She said: "Becki Edwards from Gornal Together approached me back in May and asked if fancied doing a charity night with her. Of course I said yes and we hope it will be a night to remember. Gornal Together want to raise money for a defibrillator for the local area too.
"There will be top prizes on offer as we will be holding an auction too. Prizes will range from days out at Dudley Zoo, Trentham Monkey Forest, Drayton Manor and ice skating.
"They'll also be haircuts and Baylis & Harding gift sets."
Williams Syndrome – a non-hereditary condition – affects one in around 18,000 people in the UK and causes distinctive facial features and a wide range of learning difficulties.
Kellie's son, Matthew, has two heart conditions.
She continued: "It is difficult with William's Syndrome. For me its always been about raising awareness for the charity because not many people know about it. It's genetic and quite similar to Down Syndrome.
"The money goes into a lot of research and allows families with similar conditions to join together and share days out - you feel less isolated then."
A number of local businesses will also be taking part in the evening, including The Flower Fairie, Beau Boutique and Kellie's friend Vicky Pick who has also dressed the room for the occasion.
Tickets cost £10 and can be bought from Kellie directly today or tomorrow by calling 07588663987.
