Inspector Morse will be solving mysteries in the West Midlands this summer!
A Birmingham theatre has announced that a legendary ITV detective will be coming to their stage in August - before embarking on a UK tour.
The Rep, in Birmingham, is excited to announce the upcoming stage production of Inspector Morse: House of Ghosts.
This new play is the first major stage adaptation of the iconic detective, Inspector Morse, from ITV’s long-running series, which is considered one of the greatest British crime dramas of all time.
Tom Chambers, known for Father Brown and Strictly Come Dancing, will take on the role of Morse in this thrilling, original story.
The actor said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be bringing to the stage the nationally loved character of Inspector Morse. Played by John Thaw in the TV series, it is an iconic role which audiences clearly loved alongside the Morse murder mysteries.
"This brand-new production is tantalising tale, rich in story and character and even unpicks some of Morse’s closely guarded personal life. It’s going to be a fabulous evening of entertainment."
The plot begins with the mysterious death of a young actress during a live performance. As Inspector Morse investigates, the case takes a darker turn when he uncovers a link to his own past, twenty-five years earlier. Fans of detective stories won’t want to miss this gripping show.
The show is set to open on Thursday, August 28, and run until Sunday, September 14.
Tickets for Inspector Morse: House of Ghosts are on priority sale now for Gold, Silver and Bronze Rep Friends, 16 – 25 members & Access Register customers, with public booking being available from Thursday 6 February, 12pm. To book, visit The Rep website.
