Rare watch sells for £3,000 at auction to raise money for NHS
A one-of-a-kind watch has sold at auction for more than £3,000 to raise money for the NHS.
The Oris Quis Date went under the hammer for £3,350 – surpassing its original estimate of £800.
And every penny will go to NHS Charities Together after Birmingham-based Fellows Auctioneers waived their fees.
Stephen Whittaker, managing director of Fellows Auctioneers, said: "We are delighted to have achieved such a great price for this one-of-a-kind Oris Aquis Date watch.
"All money raised from the watch will go straight to NHS Charities Together.
"We are thankful that Oris asked us to auction this special watch for such a worthy cause. We are also especially thankful to the people who placed bids on this watch, resulting in it flying above its estimate."
The piece, which attracted 63 bids from 17 different bidders, features the brand's iconic Oris Bear on the back of the watch.
It has the words "In This Together, Oris Supports the NHS, One of One" also feature alongside the symbolic animal.
The piece has a 43.50mm stainless steel case and a unidirectional bezel with a scratch-resistant ceramic insert.
It is water-resistant to 30 metres and powered by a Swiss-made automatic mechanical movement – and came with an authentication document.
