Leather museum pledges they will keep visitors safe
Bosses at a Walsall leather museum have moved to reassure visitors that they will be safe when visiting the site.
The attraction reopened in early August for the first time since March, but footfall has been slower than hoped.
People can explore the galleries telling the story of Walsall’s leather industry from its beginnings up to the present day. Its workshops are laid out in a recreated leather factory setting, showing the stages from tannery, to belts and bridles and how they were made.
Assistant curator David Mills said: “We’ve been open for a few weeks now and I think people are still reluctant to go into public buildings. We have no school parties at the moment, so can people can have peace and quiet throughout. The building is open for everyone to enjoy.
“People can come and visit and they can be assured they will be as safe as we can make it. We have a one-way system, regular cleaning and people need to wear masks.”
Admission is free.
