Prepare to be spooked as you stroll around the museum's 26 acres and explore period shops and houses, decked out specially for the creepy season.

The Black Country Museum off Tipton Road, is open after hours for the Halloween-themed event, offering families a night of fun - and a few frights along way.

Sarah Bradbury, of Newport, at the event

Fire-jugglers entertain as you walk around the streets filled with magicians, circus performers, creepy crawlies and a Victorian surgeon telling terrifying tales from the operating theatre.

Youngsters can trick or treat along the museum’s cobbled streets, visiting the period homes and shops, meeting the interesting characters of yesteryear along the way who will dish out sweet treats.

For an extra charge, guests can meet the mystics and find out what the future holds, while at various locations at across the museum’s site you can encounter characters who tell spine-chilling Halloween tales.

Damien Williams, of Essington, dressed for the event

Guests can brave the creepy crawly display too - coming face-to-face with cockroaches, toad, snakes and a giant snail. There’s also a barn owl, ‘smiling’ gecko and cute tenrec.

Children and adults alike are encouraged to dress in their Halloween best and take part in the costume parade, with prizes for the best-dressed ghoul.

A highlight is a trip down the museum’s popular mine, with a difference. Prepare to be spooked as you encounter the ‘monstrous’ mine. Are you brave enough? It is not for the faint-hearted and there’s a surprise around every dark corner.

Becky Harrison, of Wolverhampton, and Louise Chilton, of Market Drayton

Those looking for a spine-chilling, creepy, family Halloween evening out should look no further than the Halloween Nights. They are the perfect evening for all the family - with entertainment for the youngest of the family, all the way up to the adults.

The Black Country Museum’s Halloween Nights run on October 26, 30 and 31.
