New circus show will be real blinder
Peaky Blinders-inspired acrobats will take to the big top as a new circus show comes to Walsall this week.
Circus Funtasia has returned to Pelsall Common for the third year in a row with performances featuring world-class stunts until Saturday.
And two acrobats, inspired by infamous gang Peaky Blinders' taste for danger, will be performing the 'Wheel of Death'. Bulgarian best friends Nikolai and Ivan will leap and somersault across a terrifying metal wheel – which has been hoisted into the air.
Ivan said: "Tommy Shelby is iconic. The Peaky Blinders are always taking risks, just like ourselves. We wanted to bring a bit of that into our show.”
Nikolai added: "Even on the most dangerous stunts, we have to stay calm. Your heart is racing but your mind is steady, in the heat of the moment you keep under control.”
The show also features spoof fight scenes inspired by the Peaky Blinders, enacted by the character 'the Geek'.
The 90-minute show also features high-flying aerialists, flame-throwing fire-eaters, 360-degree motorcycle stunts, hula-hooping and aerialists who drop spectacular heights from the roof of the big top. The show also includes the UK's only female 'sky-walker' who defies gravity as she bravely steps across the clouds.
Circus Funtasia started its run on Wednesday and will be at Pelsall Common until Saturday. There is also an adults-only show on Saturday night.
