Cars, trains, buses, collectible toys, Lego and action figures alongside other items were all on display at The Walsall Wood Toy and Train Collectors Fair, which returned to the region yesterday.

The event, now in its 28th year, took place at the Oak Park Active Living Centre, in Walsall Wood.

It was established by collectors Geoff and Linda Price, from Walsall, more than 28 years ago.

The couple run Transtar Promotions, which organises events throughout the year.

Linda Price said: "It's been quite busy. We've had just under 500 people in. We've been here at Oak Park since 1991 so we've been organising toy fairs for a long time.

"It's probably for the older market rather than the youngsters, but there's still a big interest in toy cars and trains and stuff like that today.

"We've had one of the biggest varieties we've had for a long time – like Corgi cars, die-cast stuff, trains, figures, Star Wars items and things like that.

"Generally, anything that's collectible people can come along and buy and people come into the fair and they are trying to sell on parts of collections.

"It's been very good. It's been nice and dry and although it's been cold, it's not been as cold as it has been. I think it's been a good fair."

The couple have been interested in toys for more than 45 years since they met in 1970.

They have spent years searching worldwide for different model buses, trams and trolleybuses to add to their ever-growing collection – which now totals 14,452 models, as of September last year.
