Scott Heffield, one of Bear Gryll's key safety team on his TV programmes, has become the first person to test out the High Ropes course at The Bear Grylls Adventure at Birmingham NEC

Adrenaline TV expert, Scott Heffield, has become the first person to tackle the course at more than 65ft (20 metres) high.

His role sees him act as one of Bear’s safety advisor on shows such as such as Born Survivor, Running Wild with Bear Grylls and Bear Grylls Survival School.

It is the highest high ropes course in Europe at five storeys high, and intrepid explorers will be able to zip-line down out of the back of a Chinook helicopter before starting the 36 challenges inspired by the famous military Tarzan course.

The multi-level high ropes challenge involves zig zagging across rolling beams, climb ladder bridges, and cross snake steps over 20 metres above the ground.

Scott Heffield said: “This is the highest high ropes course in Europe, that in itself makes it super difficult and super scary, but actually as you get higher it gets harder. Almost every single activity on the higher level needs stamina, strength, core stability and balance. You just need to take breath though and go for it.”

As well as the high ropes course, the attraction will feature three additional headline different activities, which replicate some of Bear’s adventures to push daredevils to their limits:

  • Dive – experience the thrill of a new environment as you take on the ultimate dive experience

  • Fly – learn how to spin, roll, flip and fly high with the help of highly skilled parachute experts in the iFLY indoor skydiving wind tunnel which simulates the incomparable feeling of freefall

  • Climb – choose and conquer a route inspired by breathtaking famous terrains - from the boulders of Fontainebleau to the face of El Capitan to the steps of Mount Everest, climbers of all experience levels will be able to scale nature’s giants

Visitors to the attraction can also experience Basecamp – a collection of four team and individual challenges which will equip thrill seekers with all the skills needed for any adventure. The experience was created and inspired by Bear’s own military experiences and past adventures from across the globe.

Survive The Maze, Assault Course, Target Archery and Break Out – Escape Rooms, aim to offer exhilarating mental and physical encounters to test adventurer’s limits and require both brains and brawn to complete

Tickets are available to the general public for the world first adventure attraction via The Bear Grylls Adventure website, where visitors will be able to gain access to Basecamp and the four headline activities.

Tickets to Basecamp will be priced at £20, with combined Basecamp and headline adventure packages starting from £35. If visitors are up for the ultimate challenge, The Bear Grylls Adventure will offer a Go ALL in Pass for just £160p. for a full day adventure.
