Museum bosses have urged people to share their memories or historic items from a former music shop as they aim to recreate it at the venue.
The Black Country Living Museum is looking to remodel Stanton’s music shop as part of its new 1940s to 1960s historic town.
The original Stanton’s, in 10 Castle Street, Dudley was demolished in the 1960s and replaced with a modern store.
The museum has already been donated a 1950s Dansette record player which is in full working order – with parts made in the Black Country – as well as records from the 50s as it bids to recreate Stanton’s heyday.
A museum statement said: “We are looking for memories about Stanton’s music shop in the 1950s so that we can recreate it in our new 1940s to 60s historic town.
“The building we are recreating was knocked down in the late 1950s and replaced with a modern flagship store. Right now, we are looking for memories of Stanton’s old home prior to 1960.
“We are very keen to hear from anyone with memories of the 1950s shop – who bought records, instruments, or electronics from Stanton’s; or anyone connected with the Stanton, Howarth or Nash families.
“This building has so many stories to tell, so if you or anyone you know remembers Stanton’s during this period please get in touch.”
