Beverley Knight to tour UK singing songs of Stevie Wonder
Isn't she lovely? Black County soul star Beverley Knight is to tour the UK singing the songs of Stevie Wonder.
Beverley, from Wolverhampton, will give her own take on classics from the music icon during a 10-date tour.
The tour was launched after the star performed a special concert recorded for BBC Radio 2’s ‘Friday Night Is Music Night’ series at The London Palladium at the end of last year, where she performed songs from Stevie Wonder.
She will now take the show across the UK with the Leo Green Orchestra to pay homage to one of the most-loved songwriters in history.
Beverley will make a whistle-stop tour of the country from October 1 to October 14. The first show will be in Brighton and the tour will come to and end near home at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham.
The special shows come as the singer, widely regarded as one of the finest of her generation, celebrates 25 years in music during 2019.
She said: “The London Palladium show in November was such a wonderful, thrilling experience for me that I didn’t need to think twice when offered the opportunity to tour it across the U.K. later on this year. I look forward to once again teaming up with the Leo Green Orchestra to perform these beautiful arrangements of Stevie’s timeless, inimitable music."
Beverley said she was enjoying the challenge of mastering Wonder's classics.
She said on Twitter: "Trying to hold it together while singing Lately was so, so hard." She added: "It was so awesome to sing those songs!"
Tickets go on general sale tomorrow (fri) and are available from www.livenation.co.uk.
