Sarah Millican, Birmingham's Symphony Hall - review

Sarah Millican is the best friend that all women wish they had.

The foul-mouthed funny woman says what everyone is thinking but doesn't dare say and she'll do it in a theatre packed with over 2,200 people.

For her show at Symphony Hall in Birmingham last night, the comedian ticked off taboo subjects like an extremely efficient shopping list.

From sex to pornography, periods to breasts, farting to IBS, no subject was off-limits.

Don't be deceived by the innocent-looking Geordie that walks on stage in a floral dress and sparkly pumps.

One joke about farting in hospital tights later along with anecdotes about her sex life where no details were spared, and the audience exploded into laughter, gasps or an applause and sometimes all of them at the same time.

The live show exposed the true unrestricted Millican compared to the watered-down version of herself that she is on television. She is a Control Enthusiast.

Her frank and filthy material is truly a breath of fresh air for women as she highlighted universal female problems.

Her first line launched into her discomfort due to her newly-applied sanitary pad.

She then went on to start a conversation about the pet hates of bra fittings for her many boobs (front and back).

Talk of hairy nipples, breasts down to the floor and pubic hair provided a vivid image of the middle-aged female body to shock some and give others something to related to.

She had the audience in stitches as she likened urine samples to 'pouring juice through a hedge'.

This was followed by the hilarious revelation that all her bits would be in one box if she were ever to appear on Channel 4's Naked Attraction- and it is not the middle.

Amid the jokes, she touched on tabloid coverage of her non-existent weight loss as she announced proudly that she is 'Christmas body ready'.

An insight into her sexual fantasies revealed her turn-ons involve clean dishes while her turn-offs including mismatched bed sheets.

While she lacks interest in babies, she certainly likes her rescue dog and kittens, more so than the queen who came second best in her busy schedule.

Her support-act was Sally-Anne Hayward whose similarly obscene gags about hypochondriac colleagues who soon died and women's lad conversations about sausages from the night before were welcomed by the comedian's fans.

Millican really shone at the buzzing venue and is expected to return tonight (Friday).

She will be performing at Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton from November 28 until November 30.
