Joseph cast get standing ovation

This year's Stafford Gatehouse Theatre Summer School production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat had its first performance on Wednesday night, with the packed audience offering huge applause as the curtain came down.

The cast of the show is made up of more than 70 youngsters, who wowed crowds with their performance of musical numbers such as ‘Jacob and Sons’, 'Joseph’s Coat’ and ‘Any Dream Will Do’.

The cast, all aged between seven and 18, have been rehearsing for the show since Monday July 31.

Director John Ward, who has been working on the production with choreographer Verity Bray and musical director David Hewson, said: "All the cast and crew have worked tremendously hard over the last few weeks, so it was wonderful to see such a positive response.

"It’s a magical, colourful show with some great songs and lots of surprises; it’s perfect for the whole family."

The final performance of Joseph is taking place tonight, Saturday August 19. Tickets cost £12 each or £42 for a family ticket. They can be booked by calling the box office on 01785 619080 or by visiting www.staffordgatehousetheatre.co.uk
