West Midlands Police maintained a very visible presence at Bloxwich Carnival on Saturday requesting visitors in cars to stop and confirm they were there for the event on the approach, whilst numerous officers were there for all to see observing from the perimeter.

Additional officers had been deployed to the annual town fixture following trouble at Pelsall Carnival last month in which seven people were arrested for violent disorder.

A force spokeswoman said: "There is not believed to be any reported trouble from the carnival on Saturday."

Hundreds of people went along to the event although intermittent spells of rain meant the crowds were not as dense as last year's carnival which benefitted from scorching sunshine throughout the day.

The new addition to the event this year was a performance from trainer Elaine Hill and her sheepdogs.
