Singer adds X appeal to Wolverhampton charity fundraiser

A community and business have been thanked for support after a charity ball raised almost £9,000 for charity.

X Factor finalist Joseph Whelan was among the guests at the charity ball at the Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton.

It raised money for charities Whizz Kidz and Legacy4Lucy.

Whizz Kidz helps children with disabilities while Legacy4Lucy was set up in memory of Lucy Gy, from Cannock, who died from breast cancer aged 33.

The event was hosted by Jardine Motors Group and sponsored by Vehicle Connections.

It total it raised £8,962.53.

Nathan Parry, director at Vehicle Connections, said: “As a sponsor of the annual charity ball I am delighted to be part of a community of local businesses that support two deserving charities in Whizz Kidz and Legacy4Lucy.

"I would like to thank all involved for their dedication to making the ball a fantastic evening for a fourth year running, especially event organisers Helen Hammond and Leanne James.”

An auction was held at the event with balance bikes, go-karts and golf gear among the items on offer.

The evening saw guests arrive to a red carpet.

There was casino games, stilt walkers and a performance by Whelan at the show.

The ball was in the WV1 restaurant at the football ground.

Legacy4Lucy aims to raise funds to help find a cure for breast cancer which kills 11,000 women in the UK annually.

Preparations are already underway for organising the event next year. It is planned for June 30.

In addition to the charity ball, Jardine Motors Group donates £25 for every Motability vehicle sold by one of their dealerships and offers work placement opportunities to young people with disabilities in a variety of roles.
