Poets pop into library to meet fans
Two prize-winning writers gave book lovers an insight into the world of literature during a day of activities at a library.
Sarah James, a former journalist who is now working as a poet, fiction writer, playwright, film maker and arts reviewer, visited Brownhills Library on Chester North Road to speak with fans about her work, her inspirations and more.
Sarah, who has won numerous prizes for her poetry, including the Overton Poetry Prize and the Wordpool Poetry Festival Competition, also gave book lovers a unique treat by writing personal poems for those who asked her, as well as penning a poem for the library.
She was joined by David Clarke, who has also won awards for his writing.
Kim Bayley, assistant librarian at Pelsall Library, visited Brownhills Library to oversee the event and said: "It was a wonderful day, Sarah wrote some lovely poetry and people seemed to really enjoy it.
"We are grateful for Sarah sharing her time and talent with us.
"We would also like to thank David Clarke."
The visit was organised as part of the 'Adopt a Poet' scheme organised by Nine Arches Press and West Midlands Readers’ Network to take poets and live poetry into libraries.
