USA and UK to collaborate at Stafford DJ event
A transatlantic musical mash up will take place this summer - with DJs from Stafford set to share a stage with an multi-talented American musician.
Staffordshire’s music lovers can enjoy the sounds of New York this summer when the American DJ, producer and broadcaster Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy headlines this year’s Rotation Garden Party, which takes place at Bishton Hall near Stafford on July 22.
The annual event – which is now in its third year – is a collaboration between Stafford-based DJs and producers Dean Meredith and Ben Shenton.
Mr Meredith said: “We’re over the moon to have Colleen with us this year.
“She’s been a huge influence on what we do, so to have Colleen as the first guest to play on the Rotation Sound System is very special indeed.”
Murphy, the one-time New Yorker who now resides in London, is best known for her listening sessions Classic Album Sundays and for her work with the late DJ and pioneer of New York dance culture, David Mancuso, whose ‘invitation only’ parties at The Loft inspired numerous legendary nightclubs.
Meredith and Shenton are two self-proclaimed audiophile obsessives who have devoted their spare time to assembling the most remarkable sound system, which is one of only a handful worldwide that use Klipschorn speakers.
Mr Shenton said: “Mainstream media takes no interest in high-end hi-fi.
“Everyone knows the Bugatti Veyron car or Rolex watch, but who has heard of hi-fi manufacturers such as Graham Slee, Russ Andrews or Mark Levinson?
“When Paul Klipsch designed the Klipschorn speaker 70 years ago he wanted to recreate the sound of a symphony in the living room.
"That is basically what we do but in a public arena.”
The Rotation Garden Party takes place at Bishton Hall, Wolseley Bridge on July 22 between 2pm and midnight with DJ support from Mind Fair, Andy Taylor of We Are The Sunset and
Stuart Robinson of The Great Outdoors.
