Stafford Castle to host summer event for all the family

A new event for all the family is going ahead in July at Stafford Castle.

There will be art workshops and face painting throughout the day with live music fromlocal bands, and DJ sets, at Stafford Castle’s Summer Sunday on 9 July.

Street Food will be on offer with different types of cuisines from authentic Caribbeandishes to Vietnamese and Thai style foods.

Activities get underway at 12 noon with pop up street food stalls and licenced barsavailable until the event closes at 7pm.

It costs £5 for those over 12 years old with younger children free. Car parking on theCastle site is £5 for the day.

Organisers of the Summer Sunday promise a festival atmosphere including streettheatre and an acoustic tent featuring some of the best talent in the area.

The Borough Council managed Castle has dominated the Stafford skyline for morethan 900 years having been built on the instructions of William the Conqueror. It

provides the dramatic backdrop to the internationally recognised Shakespeare

Festival as well as other popular events such as the Classic Car Show.

Norman Jones, Head of Policy and Improvement at the Borough Council, said: “The

event has been designed to help the whole family chill out and have a relaxing

afternoon in the grounds of the town’s most famous landmark.

“It is a new event to the 2017 calendar and we hope the range of activities on the day

will provide some fantastic entertainment for children, families and friends.”
