Bloxwich Model Railway Club hosts annual display - in photos
Hundreds of model railway enthusiasts went along to an exhibition in the Black Country.
It was the sixth annual display put on by Bloxwich Model Railway Club at St. John’s Methodist Church.
The event on Saturday helped raise more than £1,000 for the venue and other good causes.
John Homer, 60, a club member, said: “This was our sixth one and it was very well attended again.
“We had about 25 different layouts, a couple from Stoke won the top prize in the end. People always seemed interested in the exhibition. We were getting people to come intrigued and the next minute they were buying tracks and trains.
“We had good feedback from it.
“We had people from all over the country and raised more than £1,000, some of the goes to the church and some of it will go out donations we do at different times like the Midlands Air Ambulance.”
The sets on display ranged from stunningly detailed life-like recreations complete with trackside maintenance workers, to elaborate Thomas the Tank Engine inspired designs.
John explained he his own interest in model railways snowballed after a single purchase.
He added: “I went to a car boot about 15 years ago and bought a train set for £20. That’s how I got into it.
“Now everyone that wants something fixing comes to me.”
The club has around 25 members and meets every Thursday between 2pm and 4.30pm at the church.
Anyone can go along regardless of the size of their collection.
