The 65-year-old from Walsall is inviting people of all ages to head to his latest fundraising gig on Friday. The event, which takes place at Wetherspoons in Walsall between 4pm to 6pm, will involve live music performed by Mr Mahoney himself, and other musicians from the area, including his younger brother Paul Mahoney, who is flying in from Australia for the occasion.

All the funds raised will go towards the charity group CLIC,a cancer fundraising group dedicated to helping children and young people suffering with the disease.

Mr Mahoney's last event was in January this year, where he managed to raise £300 for the cause.

The talented musician can play the guitar, mandolin, mandala, ukulele, guitarlele and the harmonica. He said: "People ask me what I do these days after I retired — and that's three things. I play music, paint, and drink too much wine."

Gerry isn't just a musician, he's also taught art at St. Thomas More Catholic School, Willenhall. He also formed and ran the Merlin Puppet Theatre for a number of years.

Additionally, he has also presented many exhibitions for the public – most recently, at Old Square Shopping Centre in Walsall, which featured around 30 prints of his own original hand-drawn work. He has also played at 11 Downing Street, playing at a party to raise awareness for handicapped children. He owned the former Gerry Mahoney band, whose most creditable achievement were being a member of the Variety Club GB.
