Smethwick-based Zero UK Cases exports to China and India
Smethwick-based Zero Cases UK, one of the world's leading manufacturers of protective cases, is celebrating after opening up new export territories in India and China.
After years when many UK firms were hit by work being outsourced to India and China, Zero Cases UK have managed to reverse this trend with a rapid growth in export numbers in both countries.
The value for orders from India is expected to exceed £120,000 by the end of 2013, with the predictions for Chinese orders not far behind, following an initial order for 120 cases.
Zero UK's plant manager, Mike Dimmack, said: "The export expansion to non-European markets is especially important for us as it helps us to balance any possible effects deriving from the austerity measures which are currently being employed throughout the eurozone.
"Manufacturers in general have to trade within a very challenging economic environment at the moment. It therefore makes sense to pursue a sales and marketing programme which is not only focussed on the UK and Europe, but goes beyond."
Thanks to an increased exposure of Zero products in India, the company's network of users is growing steadily from month to month.
As a result, Zero is expanding its market position within the country. Advances in the Asian market also complement the company's robust sales throughout Europe at the moment.
With future plans to further extend marketing activities in the Middle East and Asia, Zero is also in the process of developing new product ranges which are due to be launched throughout this year.
Featuring vacuum form plastic and additional lightweight aluminium rack cases, the products will complement the company's existing range of aluminium and plastic enclosures.
On top of that, the firm will be introducing an increased variety of larger rotor-moulded case sizes and 'deep drawn' carry cases with enhanced protective surface finish. 'Deep drawn' refers to the specific metal-forming process used to make the cases
In Asia, the company's aluminium 700 series 19-inch rack and modified aluminium 'deep drawn' transit cases have proven particularly popular with the Indian commercial aerospace sector.
Serving a more commercial market in China, Zero is primarily exporting deep drawn carry cases to the country, hoping to increase their shares within the business to business market.
Based at a 25,000 sq ft base on Alpha Park in Smethwick, Zero Cases UK is the British manufacturing and distribution arm of US-based Zero Manufacturing, which has been producing protective cases sine the 1950s.
