Smethwick hi-spec manufacturer moves into cars

A Midlands manufacturer of high specification perforated materials has expanded into offering fully formed, painted and assembled finished metal speaker grills for the automotive and multi-media markets.

A Midlands manufacturer of high specification perforated materials has expanded into offering fully formed, painted and assembled finished metal speaker grills for the automotive and multi-media markets.

Ash & Lacy Perforators in Alma Street, Smethwick, has continued to flourish following a management buyout in 2010.

Its perforated materials and expanded metals are used to create products for the aerospace, automotive, IT and construction industries both for the home market and export.

"Our expansion into finished product opens up a whole new area of opportunity for growth, as does our ambitious approach to the global marketplace, said sales and marketing director David Nock.

"We have already invested in new machinery and recruited two new employees but we are confident it is only the start. Ash & Lacy are an innovative, and forward thinking manufacturer of high specification products and we are proud to be flying the flag for Midlands and UK growth"

Following the buyout there has been investment in innovative product development, machinery and people.

The business is now able to offer total in-house solutions to customers.

"If there is a pattern that somebody requires for a specific project or new product and we don't have the tool to make it, then our in-house design and tooling team will create it. Our strength lies in our ability to offer our customers a total solution from concept to completion."

The modern factory and highly trained workforce is fully equipped to cater for all types of projects and Ash & Lacy work to precise and meticulous standards of quality control. Patterns with holes as small as 0.8mm can be provided whilst the presses, which vary from 80 to 500 tonnes, can work with materials up to 1500mm

wide.

The range of CNC operated presses can produce many shapes in a variety of materials, as well as the ability to level, flatten and recoil.

Ash & Lacy are also experts in profiling, bolt holes, notches, guillotining, folding and can galvanize, powder coat, anodize, weld and fabricate.

Products from Ash & Lacy, such as car speaker grills and acoustic panels which can be seen in prestigious marques like Bentley, Land Rover and Rolls Royce aero engines. "We're very proud of the relationships we've built with clients in the automotive industry.

"Like all our customers they set exacting standards which we have to meet and our commitment to quality is demonstrated by our accreditation to BS EN 90001:2008," said Mr Nock.

Ash & Lacy have recently signed a seven-year agreement to supply Magna, the most diversified automotive supplier in the world with perforated metal speaker grills.

With sales going well in the UK, Ash and Lacy are targeting the global marketplace and have recently supplied perforated acoustic white liner products to a number of prestigious projects in the Middle East.
