Man given court date to enter plea after being charged with murder of Oldbury woman Paramjit Kaur

A man has been told when he will have to plead either guilty or not guilty to the murder of a woman in Oldbury.

Harminder Mattu, aged 50, is charged with the murder of Paramjit Kaur. 

The 46-year-old woman was found with serious injuries at an address in Swan Crescent at around 8.20am on Monday (March 31) and was confirmed dead at the scene.

Mattu appeared before Stafford Crown Court this afternoon (April 3).

Prosecuting Howard Searle said: "We want to adjourn this case for a plea hearing on May 2 at Wolverhampton Crown Court. If there is to be a trial then we have been given the date of November 17 this year."

Mattu appeared via video link from HMP Berwyn. Sitting behind a desk in a grey T-shirt, Mattu, of Swan Crescent, Oldbury spoke through an interpreter and only to confirm his name and address.

Judge Kristina Montgomery told him: "I am adjourning your case until May 2 in Wolverhampton. I am remanding you in custody until that date."
